Job purpose:
As our Data Analyst within Energy & Sustainability you’ll be responsible for managing energy data within our portfolio. You’ll analyse and identify high consumption, trends and anomalies, to support identification for energy and carbon reduction. It will be your responsibility to set energy budgets and then manage performance against budget. Your expertise will help us progress towards Bruntwood’s net zero aspirations and drive strategies that improve performance across all seven of our Sustainability Domains (Energy, Emissions, Sustainable Materials, Green Spaces and Biodiversity, Water, Waste and Sustainable Transportation).

You’ll manage projects across the portfolio, so you’ll be on site in different regions around once a week when necessary.
What we’re looking for:
- Advanced capability within Excel, working with large datasets to analyse data and present findings
- Experience using SQL, data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI
- The ability to present complex data into clear actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders
- Experience within Energy and/or Real Estate sectors isn’t essential, however we are looking for someone who is passionate about the environment and wants to make a difference in reducing carbon emissions
- A data driven degree in Maths, Finance, Data Science or similar would be beneficial, however we’re open to other non-degree routes into data analytics
- You’ll be analytical and enjoy investigating complex data to identify, investigate, and resolve underlying anomalies, as well as presenting findings to internal stakeholders
- You’ll be solutions focussed. Proactively resolving data queries and leverage insights to drive continuous process improvements.
- You’ll love working with passionate people, influencing decision making through your data expertise to see short/medium and long term tangible impact
- You’ll challenge in the right way, respectively interrogating data and decision making to make sure your expertise is heard and decisions are made accordingly
What you’ll be doing:
- Analysing, benchmarking and reporting energy data (total / vacant / service charge / customer / serviced space etc) against similar buildings, previous years and industry standards
- Monitor and report on impact of energy reduction initiatives
- Supporting on improvement strategies with key stakeholders
- Supporting energy efficiency measures and monitoring/reporting their impact
- Working with colleagues and suppliers to report energy and carbon consumption for existing buildings and any construction activities
- Working with colleagues to deliver Bruntwood’s net zero targets, and contributing on initiatives right across Bruntwood’s seven sustainability domains (Energy, Emissions, Sustainable Materials, Green Spaces and Biodiversity, Water, Waste and Sustainable Transportation)
- Supporting on initiatives with external partnerships such as UKGBC, BBP etc
- Interrogating data, presenting and contextualising data to inform key business decisions
- Ensure energy billing for a portfolio of buildings is on time and accurate
- Setting service charge budgets and managing actual usage against budget
- Managing customer queries relating to energy data and other sustainability areas
