Sustainability at Bruntwood

Job purpose:

We’re looking for an engaging M&E Project Manager to join our team of 8 at our head office in Manchester city centre (Union, M2 6LW). Taking ownership of a diverse portfolio of M&E projects, acting as both a technical expert and a strategic leader. You’ll play a crucial role in advancing our Net Zero Carbon initiatives, and ensuring our mechanical and electrical infrastructure remains safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.

Ways of working:

Our culture is built around working together in teams in the office. We've designed our spaces to maximise collaboration, team interaction and productivity to drive our purpose of Creating Thriving Cities. We truly believe we can't create thriving cities from home. Instead, we need to work right in the heart of them, experience them, understand their dynamics and be very much part of them. This shared sense of commitment and purpose is a core part of our culture.

You’ll manage projects across the portfolio, so you’ll be on site in different regions around once a week when necessary.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience managing Mechanical and Electrical based projects, ideally within the built environment, but we’re open to technical candidates outside of the industry.
  • You’ll cover M&E projects within the role, however if you are weighted more to one side in terms of your technical expertise, we can support your development and knowledge in the other.
  • You’ll be experienced in managing multiple projects simultaneously, comfortable building relationships and collaborating within multi-disciplinary teams, both internally and externally.
  • Someone who has knowledge of statutory compliance areas such as NIC, F-Gas and Gas Safe and site health and safety including CDM Regulations and asbestos will be highly advantageous.
  • You will have experience in contract administration and managing the financials of a project as well as knowledge of AutoCad and MS office applications.
  • You will be able to adapt to changing priorities and take a proactive approach to solving problems.
  • You will have a keen eye for detail, be highly organised and take a customer focused approach.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Simultaneously manage multiple mechanical and electrical projects at a value from £25k to in excess of £1m, from conception to completion.
  • Ensure that all project health and safety obligations are met in line with Burntwood’s Health & Safety Policy.
  • Review and document risk assessments and method statements for the work being carried out and generally adhere to the client requirements of CDM 2015.
  • Ensure project handover documentation is completed and integrated into site systems, and master drawings are updated and uploaded to the file storage system, Viewpoint.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for M&E installations, infrastructure and systems, offering advice and guidance to colleagues
  • Lead Bruntwood 'Smart Building' deployment for retrofit opportunities and provide expert guidance to PM's and Building surveyors working on new build smart building deployments.
  • Possess a robust understanding of Electrical and Mechanical metering arrangements, meter setup, and commissioning.
  • Support the site operational and maintenance activities, including attending contract meetings, identifying and rectifying issues, ensuring operational compliance is achieved.
  • Support Bruntwood's NZC programme and lead the 'Energy Generation' section of the programme.
  • Provide reports that inform and enable the board to make decisions on the renewable technology that should be implemented across the Bruntwood portfolio.
  • Work with the Energy and Sustainability teams to identify and deliver energy saving and generation projects and strategies.
