Job purpose:

As an Learning Programme Manager on a 12-month fixed-term contract, your mission is to hit the ground running. Using your established learning, development and training expertise, you will focus on delivering high-impact training interventions and enhancing our existing learning content to meet business needs. You will use your proven training toolkit to enhance our current programs, ensuring our colleagues have the skills they need to perform at their best from day one.

Context:

You’ll be based at our head office based in the heart of Manchester City Centre - Union on Albert Square working as part of the wider People & Talent team of 20. We employ 1,200 colleagues in total, mainly in Manchester but also across; Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham and Cambridge.

Much of the learning activity that needs delivering is there to take ownership of and hit the ground running, but there is still scope to identify and implement new content based on emerging skills gaps and trends.

We work closely with our internal stakeholders, so this role will suit L&D professionals who love collaborating with colleagues, working in a fast paced environment, being curious and adaptable in the way you operate

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience of working at L&D Partner/Manager level or equivalent ideally. However if you’re working at Senior Advisor level and believe you can deliver on the below it’d be great to see your application.
  • Comfortable working with LMS systems; Kallidus LMS would be desirable. However it’s important you have designed, implemented and tracked LMS learning interventions, and know how to optimise a learning platform for maximum usage and value.
  • Equally comfortable rolling up your sleeves to enhance and restructure existing programs as you are stepping into the classroom to facilitate them, you’ll genuinely thrive on the energy of upskilling and motivating colleagues.
  • You’ll be comfortable identifying skills gaps, providing analysis to pull together solutions and follow through to delivery.
  • You’ll be a resourceful problem solver who can overcome operational barriers and challenges, using your initiative and L&D toolkit to land initiatives successfully.
  • You’ll have the ability to bring fresh, creative thinking to existing content and traditional methods, elevating the learner experience effectively
  • You’ll be able to translate learning data and feedback into immediate, actionable plans, allowing you to rapidly adapt content for maximum impact.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Deliver & optimise training: Take ownership of the immediate delivery of learning solutions, making sure we have high engagement and practical application across the business
  • Enhance existing content: Review, refresh, and elevate our current learning materials, workshops, and digital content to make sure they remain relevant, impactful, and aligned with current team needs.
  • Identify and address immediate skills gaps: Conduct skills gap analyses to identify training needs, equipping People Partners with ready-to-use tools to assess their own areas and recommend swift learning interventions.
  • Manage departmental and business-wide learning projects: Lead the rollout and execution of any learning initiatives which are currently ongoing, or new projects which are identified as critical.
  • Line manage the Digital Learning Specialist, providing day to day support
  • Apply L&D best practices: Bring your external expertise and fresh perspective to enhance the overall learner experience, specifically across core topics like management development, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Manage external suppliers: Manage relationships with existing third-party training providers, making sure that their content and delivery align with our brand and culture and deliver the right outcomes.
  • Measure & evaluate impact: Use your L&D expertise to evaluate the immediate effectiveness of training interventions
  • Deliver and evolve management training: Refine and deliver practical management development in collaboration with People Partners and Advisors, focusing on equipping managers with immediate, actionable skills.
  • High impact facilitation: Facilitate workshops and deliver training sessions across various teams and the wider business to keep engagement high and support a learning culture

We really believe that if you’re brilliant to work with, you deserve brilliant things in return:

  • 28 days holiday plus you get your Birthday off work - and if that’s not enough you can also buy & sell holidays too
  • 24 hours a year volunteer time - there are endless opportunities for you to get involved in supporting the causes that matter most to you
  • Healthcare cash plan - so you can claim back medical expenses like optical, dentist & physiotherapy.
  • Life assurance cover for all colleagues
  • Up to 8% matched pension scheme
  • Discounts & cashback at leading retailers
  • Interest free loans to pursue your passions and apply for up to £2000 towards learning a new skill

On our careers page you’ll find our benefits calculator, where you can select what benefits you’d use to calculate the savings you’d make.

In addition to what to expect within the role and your benefits, it’s good to know that you’ll be working for a business that gives back - The Oglesby Charitable Trust has donated more than £30m since it started out in 2001. Supporting charities across Arts and Culture, Education, Environment, Medical Research and Social & Health Inequality.

We’ll do our best to get back to you within a week of your application, however if it has been longer than this please feel free to email talent@bruntwood.co.uk for an update.
