Description

This role is a 6 month fixed term contract, working Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours/week and you’ll be based at our Union office in the centre of town, working as part of an Accounts Payable team. Job purpose

We have an opportunity for an Accounts Payable Assistant to join our team during a period of change whilst we implement a new Purchase Order Process.  You’ll ensure everything to do with paying suppliers is running smoothly and you’ll be a port of call when things go wrong or the process falls down for colleagues or suppliers.  

You’ll be passionate about getting things right the first time, really care about the experience we give to our suppliers making sure the right processes are followed  to ensure we can provide a great service. 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Processing high volume invoices & credit notes in the invoice approval system
  • Chasing users for Goods Receipts and information requests
  • Distribution of daily post across the Accounts Payable Team
  • Scanning of invoices into the invoice approval tool.
  • Ensuring invoices are processed on a timely basis
  • Complete Supplier statement reconciliations
  • Dealing with supplier queries relating to outstanding invoices & payments
  • Reviewing and reconciling invoices & PO discrepancies 
  • Assisting with other accounts payable duties as required 
  • Supporting business users with queries relating to Purchase Orders & Invoices

What we’re looking for

  • Previous experience of working in a busy accounts payable team with end to end knowledge of accounts payable processes is essential. 
  • Someone with an eye for detail & the desire to work in a fast paced environment and be able to work independently.
  • A great team player who is willing to help and support their colleagues
  • Strong communication and cross departmental collaboration skills
  • Have the ability to think logically, consider all relevant aspects to why something may not be working and look for solutions to resolve.
  • Previous experience of using  Microsoft Office tools -  Excel and Word
  • Experience of using computer based software ideally Financial Force or Medius would be beneficial, but not essential.
