This is a brilliant opportunity for a Building Surveyor looking to progress. The role will focus on a 10 million pound pipeline in and around Birmingham City Centre. Giving a path for clear career development in an exciting mixed use portfolio.  

Some examples of the portfolio include: 

Centre City, Enterprise Wharf, Cornerblock & Innovation Birmingham

You’ll work closely with the wider Birmingham team which includes experts in; Asset Management, Commercial, Operations and Marketing - you’ll work from the office the majority of the week to collaborate and manage the portfolio effectively. The working location is flexible within the portfolio and the options include free parking and gym.

Job purpose: 

The role of the Senior Building Surveyor is to use your subject matter expertise and creative thinking to drive successful delivery of all works activity you are involved in within a specific portfolio. You’ll take a long term approach to the management of portfolio building assets, solve complex problems and work with your wider team to achieve their ambitious goals. 

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Manage overall delivery, manage risk, develop and be responsible for project specific performance of the Building Consultancy team for the Birmingham portfolio
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to understand their business needs and priorities from a Building Consultancy perspective 
  • Support the development of asset management plans from a Building Consultancy perspective
  • Engage with portfolio team colleagues on bringing forward fabric/infrastructure projects for delivery to a high quality standard, in line with business expectations.
  • Use project and technical management skills to select delivery routes and deliver on behalf of the Building Consultancy team for a range of different project types including Capital, P&L and SCMP whilst taking a commercial, creative and innovative approach for specific regions.
  • Engage with key business critical partnerships and supplier relationships
  • Implement the delivery of the portfolio strategic works/projects in line with asset plans, to a high standard for a set portfolio.
  • Manage project handover from delivery to operations post practical completion as and when required and make sure all snagging is closed out by the delivery teams
  • Implement asbestos management, licence for alterations and dilapidations making sure they are delivered effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Implement our strategy in areas such as sustainability and smart building technology.
  • Make sure we have high level statutory compliance in terms of CDM, Fire, Asbestos, Mees Regulations etc

What we’re looking for: 

  • An experienced Building Surveyor, with ambition to take ownership of an exciting, growing portfolio 
  • A relevant RICS accredited degree, MRICS qualification would be a plus but isn’t essential
  • Experience of managing construction projects in a mixed use portfolio - any tech/life sciences experience would be advantageous but it’s certainly not expected
  • A great collaborator, with the ability to work with Asset Managers, Operations, Marketing - building trusted relationships internally
  • You’ll have a track record of building positive relationships externally also, driving projects efficiency 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously 
  •  Ideally you’ll have experience across the following areas; SCMP fabric and M&E projects, Cat A & Cat B refurbishments
